paul diamond invited to christian party event
15 february 2014

Picture
Paul Diamond has an enviable track record as a barrister. After completing legal education and pupillage, Paul became Barrister to the Keep Sunday Special Campaign in 1988.  In 1991, Paul was granted an audience with the Pope. He has authored various legal articles, including one in which Lord Denning supported his critique of interim relief pending a European Court of Justice ruling.

Paul practised in Administrative, Constitutional and European law.  In 1996 Paul gained the first injunction against an abortion under the 1967 Act which was front page news.  Subsequent to that case, he also took the 1997 banning of the Pro-Life Alliance Party Election Broadcast to the European Court.  The Pro-Life Alliance was denied a Public Electoral Broadcast as the showing of an abortion would be ‘distressing’ to women who had had an abortion.

He is one of a handful of individuals who understands the law of religious liberty in the legal framework of the Common Law, European Law and International Law.  This rare combination of knowledge means that Paul is regularly sought after. He has an understanding of the law and of socio-cultural developments in society that underpin the law.  Paul provides a consultancy on strategic responses to societal developments, both to public policy bodies and to religious leaders.

Paul’s analytical expertise, sense of humour and blunt eloquence make him an exceptionally dynamic speaker.

Paul has a growing practise and has argued a number of groundbreaking cases on religious rights: many of his cases are front page of the newspapers.  Paul is counsel of choice in high profile strategic cases and has represented many influential and significant individuals from the former Archbishop of Canterbury to the famous Soviet dissident, Vladimir Bukovsky.

‘We are delighted that Mr. Diamond has agreed to speak at our event on 1st March and as a very experienced barrister dealing with many high profile cases in the media, we will be gaining valuable insight into the battle in our courts and the kind of strategies that are being employed to try and silence the moral and ethical voice in our nation’.  ‘You will gain insight into tactics that will be used against you as you make your stand for justice and righteousness in our nation’, adds Cllr. Green.
