Picture
Coming into politics for the first time can seem an alien and confusing arena, but as with anything in life, it's the getting started that's often the difficult part. Our job is to demystify the whole area for you and help you get started at a level of responsibility that suits your skills, experience and time you have available

Parent Governor
Often the most useful place to start is as a parent governor. You are the voice of the parents for the school and it will be your job to represent the parents  in meetings with the school heads. You will have an input into decision making and be recognised amongst the parents as the person to go to if they have an issue and want their views to be heard amongst the school board.
The term is usually about 4 years and many people find it useful when their children are at school going age and they are naturally more interested and involved in their local school. The role is useful at both primary and secondary school.
