general election 7 may 2015

Which is the bigger problem today?  Is it ignorance or apathy?
"I don't know and I don't care."

Point made?
The next UK Parliamentary General Election will take place on 7 May 2015.  The deadline to register for voting is midnight on 20th April 2015.  The timetable can be viewed here.

The 2015 Declaration of British Values

We have had requests from Christians across the UK asking if we are standing a candidate in their constituency in the General Election on 7th May 2015.

As much as we want to, the Christian Party is currently unable to stand in every constituency, however, we are responding to this request with our 2015 Declaration of British Values Campaign.

Christians realise that they are poorly represented in Westminster and elsewhere. Could this be an area of public life that God is calling you into?  Meanwhile our website is making available to Christians all over the country the information they need to help them to vote for a candidate in each constituency who will uphold Christian British Values.

Politics does not feature in the forefront of church teaching.  We are disappointed that many churches avoid local or national politics.  Many of the electorate have given up on politicians.  Many people feel that their MPs do not represent them.  When one brings an issue to one's MP, they say that 'I must represent all of my constituents', which is a polite way of ignoring your concerns.
.
Recent ungodly laws have struck at the very heart of this country's heritage, customs, and foundations that made Britain "Great".
However there is hope even in our situation.  The answer is to vote for the politicians you want rather than for second best.

You can review your constituency on this website to see which of the candidates for the Westminster election are supporting British Values.

There is a
growing opportunity to make a witness and a Christian difference in this Election.  If you are excited about the possibility of being involved in local issues, perhaps you are being called to be a local councillor. There are vacancies across the country in parish and community councils, town and county councils, and at constituency level. Why not contact us today and find out how the Christian Party can help you stand or find a candidate at a level of government that is right for you and your circumstances?

If you are unable to stand yourself, possibly you can help us to find fellow Christians to stand and represent you. Perhaps you can canvass, be involved in the prayer team or donate to help a fellow Christian proclaim the Lordship of Jesus Christ where they live. It costs £500 to stand a candidate in a Westminster Parliament constituency, but it costs nothing to stand for one's local council.   Why do you not have a candidate in your area for whom you can vote?  Find our here.  Contact us today for more information.

Members and Christians across the UK have been asking how they can find out which of their candidates would best represent their Christian values and protect the freedoms we have left.

In order to establish and collate this information we have launched a new Campaign called "The 2015 Declaration of British Values".
27 Feb 2015

The 2015 Declaration of British Values consists of four simple statements signed by the candidates in your constituency who support these values. It will show which of your candidates are most closely aligned with your beliefs, who respect our British traditions, our constitution and the Coronation Oath of our Monarch.

We respect and support Christians in other parties, and we thank God that they uphold and fight for the same values as we do. Indeed we consider their job to be harder than ours because secular humanism pervades all the main parties without exception. Their work is cut out to remain true to their beliefs, and to be strong enough to stand against the whip in their party on many moral issues. We want to support them, to stand with them and to enable them to be transparent with the voters about what they believe to be truth.

In the Christian Party, we have the freedom to declare God's truths wherever we can, and to apply Christian solutions to our social needs through the political process.  Only by being in public life will people see and witness the Christian concern of Christian councillors, politicians and others holding a wide range of public offices.  We need a few good men and women, who trust and honour the faithfulness of God, to say 'Here I am, send me'.

We call upon all those who aspire to positions of leadership, responsibility and influence to pledge to respect, uphold and protect the right of Christians to hold and express their beliefs and to act according to Christian conscience. Protecting human life, protecting marriage, and protecting freedom of conscience are foundational for creating and maintaining strong families, caring communities and a just society. Our Christian faith compels us to speak and act in defence of all these.
Our Vision
To enable every voter across the United Kingdom
to vote for a candidate who upholds these British Values

how it workS

This campaign is a joint effort between the Christian Party, Christian organisations and Christian voters to identify the candidates in each Parliamentary constituency. Details about Parliamentary candidates can be entered by the party, voters or the candidates themselves.  Candidates will then be invited to sign our 2015 Declaration of British Values.  The public will be able to access this list of candidates standing in their constituency to see who has signed and who needs to be encouraged to sign!  The signatories within each constituency will be listed on a 'first response-first listed' basis, and the remaining candidates will be listed in alphabetical order.  You will then be in a good position to judge who will get your vote on May 7th.
