Cllr. Jeff Green

Picture
It has been well proven in Mid Wales that both Christian and non-Christian, believer and aethiest will vote for someone who proposes common sense solutions to everyday problems. Jeff is the leader of the Christian Party and Mayor of Llandrindod Wells. He has been a Councillor in Llandrindod Wells since 2009 and has shown how one person can make a difference at local level. We need more Christians willing to stand up for what they believe in and be bold and courageous to oppose decisions that are not in the best interest of the town. Jeff was voted in as the first faith-based Councillor in the UK and wants to build on that in the coming days.

"Like many of you, I had become increasingly frustrated with the widespread self-interest and complacency of politicians at all levels. They constantly show how completely out of touch they are with the groundswell of public opinion. It is pointless complaining about our elected representatives and doing nothing about it. I believe it is time for people who are not tainted by the existing system to stand up and be counted.

Our County Councils are there to serve the people not to fleece them for every penny they can. There is an increasing financial and bureaucratic pressures on local businesses so we need to do all we can to help businesses stay in business as the collateral damage of businesses going to the wall would have massive impact on millions of families.

In rural farming Wales, issues of services, education levels in schools, provision for the elderly and the youth are the ones that concern me the most. Development of a tourism strategy is vital as well as the development of our countryside in a way that is sympathetic to our way of life. We have been involved in opposing the huge Merthyr incinerator and Covanta pulled out. We do not subscribe to global warming dogma nor will we allow big business and greedy government to trample over Mid Wales throwing up ‘green’ wind farms etc

Things change slowly in this part of Wales which can be a great asset but the weakness is that it is still very much an old boy’s network. The ambitions of more intensive farming, a county council who brings in Consultants at great expense to the tax payer, and pro-Europe parties gladly grab funding at any cost requires a new breed of councillors who engage quickly, act decisively and communicate effectively to ensure decisions are made in the best interests of all not for the landed minority. The game has changed beyond all recognition and voters need to see it if they want change.

Councillors more than ever need vision, a proactive approach and courage to stand for what is right. I can assure you; I am a man of my word and will act with accountability, integrity and honesty in all council dealings. In my own business, I buy local produce, employ local staff and tradesmen and support local businesses. I am delighted to represent Llandrindod Wells on the Town Council. "

Jeff is a keen archer and motor cyclist. He is married to Sue for 16 years and they have three children.

If you are a resident of Llandrindod Wells, please contact Jeff on 01597 825151 or jeff@llandrindodtowncouncil.co.uk if you have any concerns or issues you would like to discuss.
If you would like to submit something in writing, please do so by the second Tuesday of the month in time for the next Council’s meeting which is held on the third Tuesday of each month.

Cllr. Adam Bridgman, South 1 Ward, Llandrindod Wells

As I enter my second term as Councillor,  I see the need for more forward planning with a more business like strategy. Not only that, but the Town Council needs people who have fresh ideas, who are not afraid to speak the truth and make changes where needed and who are willing to take issues to the highest levels to get results.

I would love to see a town buzzing with activity and full of self-belief once again. It is vital to protect and develop our heritage but we need to combine that concern with new initiatives which can create a greater variety of jobs and a vibrant business community. I will focus on ensuring the town council eases the financial burden on small businesses and I believe we must strive to encourage locals to support local businesses to ensure their survival.

We must find ways of giving our young people hope and a future through job creation as well as leisure activities. I myself enjoy outdoor pursuits especially fishing and off-roading and am looking to give the youth opportunities to get experience motor sports and outdoor pursuits. I would like to see a lot more recreational use of the lake.

Adam has lived in Mid Wales for over 10 years and gained over 22 years experience in the construction industry. He is competing in National British Cross Country Championship 2012 with his co-driver Mathew Morgan and aims to promote Mid Wales through his racing. The Christian Party (Wales) is currently sponsoring the duo. He is married to Katherine for 18 years and has two daughters.

Cllr. Neil Bastow, Rhiw Ward, Bay of Colwyn Council

Like many of you, I had become increasingly frustrated with the widespread complacency of politicians at all levels. They constantly show how completely out of touch they are with the groundswell of public opinion. Hence the cynicism and sense of hopelessness evident in so many who have caused the voter apathy that we see today.

With that information as a background, I felt it was pointless complaining about our elected representatives and doing nothing about it. I feel that it is time for people with a conscience and a will to step forward and be prepared to be counted and held up to public examination.

I would love to see a town buzzing with activity and a full sense of belief once again. It is vital to protect and develop our heritage, save our pier, regenerate our classical buildings not see them decay before our eyes, but we need to combine that concern with new initiatives which can create a greater variety of jobs and a vibrant business community. We must find ways of giving our young people hope and a future through job creation as well as leisure activities.

I will focus on ensuring the Town Council eases the financial burden on small businesses to help them survive and thrive in this economic climate. From my background, I will make it a priority to create a safe and secure environment for the vulnerable of our society.

I promise you that I shall adopt the same life ethic that I have always adopted. I am a grafter, a worker and from my career, an excellent listener. I am also known to be tenacious and simply do not quit without good reason. In short I will work hard for the objectives of the electorate and I will always keep in mind that it was your trust that places me on the council.

I have work with the most vulnerable in our society, people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and I have found this to be the most rewarding and challenging of professions. It has given me a unique insight into the difficulties presented by our bureaucracy for even the most simplest of basic requirements. I will look to make your council approachable and accountable, for the council to be of benefit for the whole community and not just those with the loudest voice.
